Directional signs
and diskmaps
Heads up
At one time the largest pedes- trian wayfinding system in North America, Walk!Philadelphia includes over 2,200 sign and map faces. Its core concept is based on district coded directional signs and heads-up diskmaps (with the direction the user is facing at the top of the map). The brackets were designed specifically for
this program to fit multiple pole profiles and mitigate theft by covering the part of the band not tangent to the pole.
Far left, a directional sign.
Adjacent districts are named and color coded to relate to the disk-maps. Left, a west-up diskmap in the Washington Square District.
