Underground heart
Left lung via the right ventricle
After working on heart diagrams for Heart Disease and Cardio- vascular Health (see Information design and cartography), and perceiving how much the heart and its major arteries and veins resemble a transit network, I envisioned the diagram as Harry Beck’s iconic 1932 London Underground map. Anatomically inaccurate but functionally correct, this diagram clarifies the circularity of our circulatory net- work and was the cover design for Designing Information.
